Remedial Massage

Aching shoulders? Lower back pain? Tension headaches?

You may be one of the many who suffer, not with injury; but with aches and pains from your daily lifestyle. The long hours in front of a computer with your shoulders hunched forward. The drive to and from work which leaves you needing to stretch your legs and arch your back when you get out of the car. Holding the baby, carrying the shopping, having a handbag which contains your daily necessities. Bending over to fit a carpet or to plumb a bathroom; wearing heavy protective clothing at work, repetitive strain of cutting hair or making someone look beautiful.

All of the movements that you do on a daily basis can lead to tension in the body. You do them because you have to - it's your job, it's the norm. But my word, can they cause you a bit of pain at the end of the day.

It's these types of aches and niggles that could benefit from a Remedial Massage. So, let me explain.

What is a Remedial Massage?

A Remedial Massage is a clinical treatment that helps to reduce tension in the muscles and release the soft tissues in the surrounding area. Muscle Energy Techniques  (MET's) and Neuro-Muscular Techniques (NMT's) are used alongside Soft Tissue Release methods (STR) to help mobilise the joint and get things moving again.

By having Remedial Massage to reduce muscle tension, this treatment can help to balance and realign the body as necessary.

What can I expect from my treatment?

You will be assessed visually and manually and asked to do some simple tests to check your range of movement. You will be palpated so that the therapist can feel where the issues may lie. Your treatment will include various techniques to address the problem and you will be provided with home care advice to help you to alleviate the pain in the long-term.

How often should I have a Remedial Massage?

It's entirely up to you! If you have a 'one-off' treatment and expect the results to last for the rest of your days - you might be disappointed! It's a bit like going for a haircut and expecting the style to stay that way for good.

Regular appointments can help to release the tension, aid recovery and to help to restore your body to 'normal'. At the end of your appointment, you will be given stretches and advice as to how you can help and care for yourself in between treatments.

A 45 minute appointment costs £35 and can be booked via a direct message or an email.

I currently only offer mobile appointments in the Kingswinford, Kinver, Wombourne, Stourbridge area. For more information, please get in touch.
